BUDGET VOTE AND BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION

Information on the Voting Process
In order to vote in the School Budget and Board of Education election, an individual must be a qualified voter: one who is (1) a citizen of the United States of America, (2) eighteen (18) years of age or older, and (3) resident within the School District for a period of thirty (30) days preceding the annual vote and election.
The School District may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote and election to provide one form of proof of residency pursuant to Education Law section 2018-c. Such form may include a driver's license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card. Upon offer of proof of residency, the School District may also require all persons offering to vote to provide their signature, printed name and address.

Absentee Ballot
If you are in need of an Absentee Ballot, you may pick up an application in the District Office located in the Webutuck High School, Download Absentee Ballot Application Here, or call the District Clerk (Tracy Trotter) at (845) 373-4100 Ext. 5506. Fill out the application and return to the District Clerk.
Absentee Ballot applications must be received by the District Clerk not more than thirty (30) and at least seven (7) days prior to the election and vote (May 13), if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election and vote if the ballot is to be personally picked up by the voter or the voter’s designated agent set forth on the application. Absentee Ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election and vote, May 20, 2025. You may not submit your application more than 30 days prior to the election.

Early Voting Ballot
You may vote early by mail. An application must be completed before a ballot may be issued to the voter.
Applications may be requested a number of ways: by calling the District Clerk at (845) 373-4100 x5506 and request to have it mailed to you; you may stop by the District Office at 194 Haight Road, Amenia, NY to fill out an application in-person; or click the link below to print your own.

Early Mail Ballot Applications must be received by the District Clerk no earlier than 4/21/2025. If the early mail ballot is to be mailed to the applicant, the application must be received by the District Clerk no later than seven (7) days before the election (May 13). If the early mail ballot is to be delivered in person to the voter or designee, the application must be received no later than the day before the election (May 19).
The completed application must be mailed to the address below or hand-delivered to the District Clerk at the same address.

Military Voter Ballot
Military voters may request an absentee ballot application from the District Clerk, fill out and submit the application for a military ballot and return it. Military voters may designate a preference to receive a military ballot application by mail, facsimile transmission, or electronic mail in their request for ballot application or ballot. Military ballot applications must be received in the Office of the District Clerk by mail no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2025. No military ballot will be canvassed unless it is returned by mail and received in the office of the District Clerk by no later than 5:00 p.m. on election day.

Public Hearing on Budget
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Education of the North East (Webutuck) Central School District will hold a public hearing on the budget, on May 6, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of presentation of the 2025-2026 budget.

Board of Education Election
There are two seats available; both seats are for three-year terms commencing July 1, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2028, to fill the vacant seats of incumbent Board Member Nichole Reyes and incumbent Board Member Anthony Robustelli. The Board Member Election and School Budget vote will be held on May 20, 2025.

Nominating petitions are due in the District Office no later than Monday, April 21, 2025 at 5:00 pm with at least twenty-five (25) signatures of qualified voters of the district. We encourage candidates to obtain more than 25 signatures to ensure that petitions include at least 25 valid signatures.
Board of Education member qualifications are as follows:
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be a qualified voter of the district; that is, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age or older, and not adjudged to be incompetent.
- Must be and have been a resident of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year immediately preceding the election.
- May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year.
- May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family.
- May not be a current employee of the school district.
- May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.
